Vacations3

Vacations can be expensive and make you feel sad to return home. Also the pretty brochure doesnt always reflect the real destination. There are all those tourist traps where everything is junky and expensive. A vacation can be an expensive affair, easily costing hundreds of dollars a day on fuel, food and accommodation. Additionally, there can be the stresses of packing, scheduling, then worrying about your home while you're away; topped off by battling crowds of other tourists. People are turning to staycations, which are holidays spend at or close to home.
One opinion piece writer says "My co-worker has been on vacation for the past couple of weeks and I envy her dreadfully. Her absence reminds me of individuals all over who have lost their jobs within recent months with no prospects of immediate employment. I bet that before they were severed, fired or sent on permanent leave they too dreamt of the never-ending vacation. " This reminds me of how some richer people are planning their wealthy fun-filled vacations while the poor are looking for any job thats available. Since employment rates have been going up, tourist income will decrease. Each percentage drop in inbound tourism reduces U.S. travel and tourism jobs by more than 150000. Vacations are good, and when you work hard, you deserve to take that time off.

Vacations! 2

Memorial Weekend is coming up and you know what that means... 3 day weekend that everyone enjoys. This Memorial weekend, I'm going to Detroit, Michigan. 2 miles away from the Canadian border! From Chicago, Detroit is a 5 hour drive. There is a 3 day house music festival that many young people attend. The festival is called Movement. Other then that I'll have time to do some sightseeing. Throughout the year, Detroiters look forward to a number of spectacular annual events. Hydroplane races on the Detroit River, Grand Prix racing on Belle Isle, the International Freedom Festival Fireworks, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Movement Techno Fest, Jazz Fest, CityFest, Motown Hoedown and River Days. Since Hart Plaza, place where the festival is held at, is so close to Canada, that might be a fun place to visit.
Of course, Canada has the beautiful Niagara Falls, that just about everyone wants to see.
More things to do:"Attend a Saturday night hockey game in Toronto or Montreal
Walk the beaches of Vancouver Island's outer coast (Tofino/Ulcluelet)
Drive the Stewart-Cassiar Highway
Mountain bike or horseback ride the Spruce Lake Trails in BC
Camp and hike at any National Park in the Rocky Mountains
Canoe in Ontario (Algonquin Park etc)
Eat fine food in Quebec
Ski Whistler
Attend a small local rodeo in cowboy country
Snowmobile one of the hundreds of trails found everywhere in the country"- visitor.
